Steven offers expertise in both private and public sector labour relations. While he is regularly called on by businesses for his practical approach towards collective bargaining and arbitration, a large portion of his practice is in the health sector where he champions for employers who promote zero tolerance in resident and patient abuse matters. Steven also has extensive experience in the education field with the negotiation and enforcement of school board collective agreements, and is currently recognized as a top lawyer in the area of labour and employment law by Best Lawyers in Canada.
Steven’s expertise includes negotiating collective agreements in those sectors where the right to strike exists or is modified by essential services legislation, or where impasses are resolved through the interest arbitration process. In grievance and arbitration matters, he represents employers with respect to the enforcement and application of collective agreements. He also regularly advises and represents employers with respect to human rights issues.
