The Ontario Ministry of Labour has implemented significant new training requirements for employers in 2014, and more are coming in 2015. As of July 1, 2014, all employers are required to ensure that all workers and supervisors receive mandatory minimum Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training and Ontario Regulation 297/13 sets out the minimum information that must be provided in each training session. In 2015, the Ministry of Labour will implement new standards for Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) training that will impact training sessions, training providers and will set out recertification requirements for JHSC members who are already certified.
This session will assist Senior Managers, Human Resources Personnel, Managers and Supervisors with understanding:
The requirements for mandatory OHS training under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Ontario Regulation 297/13;
How to develop a training program that meets the requirements of the OHSA;
What tools are available to assist with the training process;
Upcoming changes for JHSC training programs and training providers; and
Upcoming requirements for JHSC Certified Member refresher training.
