    The laws governing employment have become increasingly complex. At the same time, potential liabilities for non-compliance have expanded. In this environment, general counsel need to develop and maintain a basic understanding of employment laws, the potential liabilities associated with non-compliance with those laws, and how employment disputes are typically resolved. This session will cover the following topics:

    • Overview of the key areas of employment law: Employment standards, labour relations, human rights, pay equity, occupational health and safety and WSIB legislation;
    • Summary of potential liabilities associated with non-compliance; and
    • Best practices in resolving employment disputes.

    This session will include invaluable advice to assist general counsel in moving from minimum standards to best practices. Furthermore, it will provide guidance on assessing and addressing employment law claims to ensure cost-effective resolutions for your company.
