Emily is a Consultant and licensed Paralegal with the CompClaim consulting group. Emily’s practice focuses on the provision of workers’ compensation consulting services to both Schedule 1 & 2 employers. She assists employers in the full spectrum of workers’ compensation matters from WSIB registration and classification, claims administration and claims management (including return to work) to experience rating and employer audit assistance.
With a finance background, Emily specializes in (and enjoys) employer account related matters (premium remittances, revenue audits) and experience rating (NEER, CAD-7 and MAP). Emily has also become an expert at navigating the complex WSIB and WSIAT appeals system. She assists employers in initiating and responding to appeals, and in preparing for both written and oral hearings.
As an employer advocate and an accomplished trainer, Emily develops and facilitates educational seminars and workshops to the employer community on various workers’ compensation topics. She has also been involved in assessing and auditing disability/claims management and return to work programs.
Emily joined CompClaim in 2007 after completing an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree at the DeGroote School of Business (McMaster University). She completed an complementary business diploma in 2011, a Paralegal diploma in 2015 and became a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2015 as a licensed Paralegal.
Emily is currently a Co-Chair of MDC’s Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) and maintains the position of the certified worker member. She is currently working on obtaining her Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation.
