New Poster Required to be Posted in Ontario Workplaces

Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (“OHSA“), employers in Ontario are required to post the OHSA and any explanatory material prepared by the Ministry of Labour.  This now includes a new poster, entitled Health & Safety at Work: Prevention Starts Here, which includes the following information:

    • Summary of the health and safety rights and responsibilities of workers, supervisors and employers
    • Reminder to employers not to take action against workers for seeking to enforce their rights under the OHSA
    • Encouragement to workers to get involved in health and safety
    • Explanation of when and why the Ministry of Labour needs to be contacted

The poster can be downloaded, for free, from the following government websites and printed on standard 8.5″ x 11″ paper:

    • ServiceOntario (English and French only)
    • Ministry of Labour (English, French and 15 other languages)

If you have any questions, or for a complete list of the notices and posters which must be posted in your workplace, please do not hesitate to contact a Mathews Dinsdale lawyer.
