Professional development
Our professional development efforts are aligned with the firm’s goals and work demands, as well as the professional and career goals of our individual lawyers. We encourage our lawyers to become involved in the specific sub-specialties of workplace law that most interest them.
Mathews Dinsdale trains its associates through on-the-job experience, in-house seminars and outside continuing legal education programs. Our training and professional development program is designed to give associates the business and legal skills necessary for them to succeed as effective practitioners in workplace law.

We recognize the importance of a team approach to client service and problem solving. As a result, our partners and senior associates are committed to involving new or junior associates in all aspects of a file. As an associate, you will be treated as a professional and valued member of the team.
Hiring criteria
We select associates principally on the basis of their academic achievement, their desire to become involved as an advocate on behalf of employers, their demonstrated interest in the area of workplace law and their past legal and non-legal work experience. We also look for associates with a dynamic personality who will be able to interact well with our diverse group of lawyers, legal support staff and clients.
